After seeing it here somewhere & setting No Gui Boot in Msconfig I lately sheduled Full Check Disk including Attempt recovery of bad sectors and this at reboot results in no visuals of ongoing scan that does not complete. Thinking there might be a message, I try enter, escape, have tried CtrlAltDel but it just keeps on with Disk I/O, blank screen. Forcing power down gets it back to same place. Three hours, no end in sight I am wondering, except for reinstall, if there is a solution to this.
MacPro 2.8 GHz, Mac OS X (10.5.8) Posted on Aug 26, 2009 1:37 PM. I have upgraded all my hard drives in the last year. Each has gotten the full format as well as long zero out and extended tests - all before actually using the disk and putting data on it. Having Windows on a 2nd drive or partition helps. Keeping the boot volume to what it needs, say 100GB, and keeping any personal data and programs on 2nd drive. I've done chkdsk and check for bad sectors a couple times, one drive use to have two regions of bad blocks so I ran into trouble.

Only WD Diagnostic fixed the drive, and it now feels and benchmarks much better. Sometimes just have to let things take their course.

There are some modifications also to boot1h and boot0 so it's better to install all them together, the cange made are visible on github source Anybody knows what are the changes in boot1h and boot0? As far as I know, when Asere made the boot file, he said to also install boot1h and boot0 because the 'chameleon team' made changes in RC4. I already have boot1h and boot0 from RC4 when rc4 was initially released. So I just copied the boot file and seems to work fine.
Did Asere made changes with these files as well? Or is he using the Rc4 original files? Hello to everybody, I'm trying to figure out the correct way of setting manually my SMUUID. Note: I replaced all MAC address characters but the last one. Method without PlatformUUID.kext: When setting to com.apple.boot.plist: system-id Noand to smbios.plist this: SMUUID 000-1000-8000-00aaaaaaaaa9when chameleon starts it displays system-id 000-1000-8000-00aaaaaaaaa9 so it's correct, but when I open SystemProfiler it shows 000-1000-8000-00aaaaaaaaa 8. Not the UUID I want. Method with PlatformUUID.kext: When setting to com.apple.boot.plist: system-id Noremove from smbios.plist this: SMUUID 000-1000-8000-00aaaaaaaaa9and add my PlatformUUID.kext with my 000-1000-8000-00aaaaaaaaa9 on it.
When chameleon starts it displays system-id 000-1000-8000-00aaaaaaaaa 8, but when I open SystemProfiler it shows 000-1000-8000-00aaaaaaaaa9. The UUID I want, but why when it boots it shows different? I'm missing something? Thanks in advance.
Version 1.1.9 has been released for a long time, please update Update Version 1.1.9: Added nVidia ION device lookup. Added a feature to set/override the nVidia NVCAP value using NVCAP key in com.apple.Boot.plist. If you want to override the NVCAP value, you must determine the PCI DeviceID of your graphic card. For instance: my new GTX260 has the DeviceID 0×05e2. Knowing the DeviceID add this to your com.apple.Boot.plist: NVCAP05e2 The NVCAP value is exactly 20 bytes long. You have to specify it using ASCII-HEX (0-9,a-f). Sources under It could be downloaded from here Homepage.
